Meltdown

This snowman has a nose for trouble.

I cringe a bit to share this one, since it is my first stop-motion film of any length. Still, it's a fun little piece (I certainly had fun making it) and a good example of how one learns the process and the art of stop-motion by experimentation. It was shot on Super 8 film. Although I love working with Super 8, the lack of adequate and, more to the point, affordable editing equipment forced me to transfer the film to video and edit it on my PC. The image quality suffered greatly from the multiple transfers. Projects I am working on now are shot using a digital camera and piped directly to the PC to avoid this pitfall.  Meltdown has only rudimentary sound effects roughed in while I pondered music selections. Missing Digits, a 24 hour comic

Missing Digits is my first comic. It is a 24 hour comic, a concept championed by Scott McCloud, a comic artist who writes comics about comics (The Dare - Making the 24-Hr Comic). The rule is, you have to start and finish the whole comic in one day. It was very challenging, but it was very interesting to see how the story and art shaped each other over the course of the day.
