This snowman has a nose for trouble.
I cringe a bit to share this one, since it is my first stop-motion film
of any length. Still, it's a fun little piece (I certainly had
fun making it) and a good example of how one learns the process
and the art of stop-motion by experimentation. It was shot on
Super 8 film. Although I love working with Super 8, the lack of
adequate and, more to the point, affordable editing equipment
forced me to transfer the film to video and edit it on my PC.
The image quality suffered greatly from the multiple transfers.
Projects I am working on now are shot using a digital camera and
piped directly to the PC to avoid this
pitfall. Meltdown has only rudimentary sound effects roughed
in while I pondered music selections. The file is an .avi
(11MB). Download here.
