Colts' Offense vs Bills' Defense
Buffalo's defensive
looks more like a MASH unit coming into Monday night's matchup than
the headhunting crew of years past. They have lost six starting
players to injury on defense this season and several others are
playing hurt. This would give the high powered Colt offense a decisive
advantage, one would think.
Of
course one would also think that this group of talented and seasoned
professionals would not turn the ball over at least once a game or
cost the offense critical field position with mindless penalties and
dropped passes. One might say I'm lloking for problems where there are
none, given the fact that the Colts are ranked third overall in total
offense. But scratch the surface of those stats and you'll see that
the Colt offense has sputtered regularly and given teams life when we
were up or given them chances to beat us down when we were behind.
Three straight road games with no points scored in the first half is
cause for real concern.
I
beleive we have the personnel to dominate any team in the NFL if we
play up to our potential and not down to the level of the competition.
We go out and play our game, we score 20+ points every game, no
sweat. There's no magic formula for this, just good old
fashioned hard work and determination. We've come up inches short on
too many occasions this year and not because of the defense making
great plays. Fine tuning is what is called for, not an overhaul.
Given
the overall condition of our offense and the inexperience of the Bills
defense, the Colts still enjoy a hefty advantage BUT only if they do
not turn the ball over.
