Colts Special Team vs Chiefs Special Teams
The Colts special teams have only
improved during the off season. Kicker Mike Vanderjagt is the model of consistency and
accuracy from any distance. He enters this season with a streak of 31 consecutive field
goals made. Punter Hunter Smith had a shaky rookie season, but has posted impressive
punting yardage in his preseason attempts. Danny Kight, the kickoff specialist, has boomed
nearly half of his pre-season kickoffs through the endzone for touchbacks. The coverage
team will be a work in progress as the unit will not have played together as a unit in a
real game until this weekend. While Chief's Kicker Pete Stoyanovich (a graduate of Indiana
University) is an excellent veteran player, the advantage in this phase of the game goes
clearly to the Colts.
