Fourth and Short

Very short. Welcome to the Horseshoe, the home for Colts haiku. Football is a game of simple grace and power, grit and glory unleashed in small explosions. It's poetry in motion. Fast forward, that is. The 'Shoe doesn't need pages of stat-crunching analysis to find the essence of the game. 

17 weeks. 17 syllables. That's all we need.  Beat that, ESPN.

Neither wind, nor snow,
Nor driving Denver Broncos
Can keep Colts from win!

Hemmingway kicker:
Snows of Kilamanjaro
Can't ice Vanderjagt.

Slippery pigskin
Never goes where you expect
Foul weather fumbles.

Just who is this PAT?
Pointed out only when missed.
Taken for granted.

Fourth quarter, fourth down
Qadry's catch gives Colts a chance.
Vanderjagt nails it!

Elway had "The Drive"
Manning made his own magic.
Rocky mountain high.

Still room to improve,
but Colts have found balance.
Playoff hopes rising.

Fleet footed Gator,
Mike Peterson picks off pass,
Rumbles toward paydirt.
