Five Step Drop...

Then seven, then five more. Welcome to the Horseshoe, the home for Colts haiku

Football is a game of simple grace and power, grit and glory unleashed in small explosions. It's poetry in motion. Fast forward, that is. The 'Shoe doesn't need pages of stat-crunching analysis to find the essence of the game. 17 weeks. 17 syllables. That's all we need.  Beat that, ESPN.

Colts Haiku: Colts vs. Bucs, Oct. 6

Whoever said, "You
can never go home again,"
never told Peyton.

All in a night's work.
Just half a dozen touchdowns!
Peyton's perfection.

Like a conductor
stepping to the podium,
Peyton makes O sing.

Slant, post, screen, in, out.
Streak, hook, curl. You name the route,
Manning is money.

Marvin is hungry
Steady diet of touchdowns
ups his appetite.

Peyton shares the wealth
Williams, Clark, Rhodes, Harrison
pull down paydirt pass.

Ailing Edge sits out.
Colts' stable stocked with talent.
New set of triplets?

Steamrolling ponies
must swash and buckle the Bucs.
Ahoy mate! Win ho!

Sapp, Barber, Brooks, Lynch.
Freeney, Harper, Thornton, Doss
Dungy's D: old, new.
