Football is a game of simple grace and power, grit and glory unleashed in small explosions. It's poetry in motion. Fast forward, that is. The 'Shoe doesn't need pages of stat-crunching analysis to find the essence of the game. 17 weeks. 17 syllables. That's all we need.  Beat that, ESPN.

Panthers run, then run some more.
Colts fail to adjust.

Like shiny pinballs,
Panthers bounce across the field.
Colt defense goes tilt.

Furious comeback
can't protect tired defense
on game's final drive.

The clock ends the game.
Four fifteen minute quarters.
Why not in OT?

Each team has bad breaks
But good teams find ways to win.
Last week, Colts fell short.

On further review,
the refs must not know the word
indisputable.

One hundred and one
consecutive starts at tackle.
Get well, Tarik Glenn.

The herd is huddled,
For one week, the stable's full.
Colts come out kicking!
