Football is a game of simple grace and power, grit and glory unleashed in small explosions. It's poetry in motion. Fast forward, that is. The 'Shoe doesn't need pages of stat-crunching analysis to find the essence of the game. 17 weeks. 17 syllables. That's all we need.  Beat that, ESPN.

Like a Christmas tree,
The Sunday scoreboard lights up.
No more gifts for foes.

Moorehead and Walters
Follow routs to Peyton's pass.
Catch them if you can.

Makoa Freitas
Unheralded right tackle.
Zero sacks allowed.

Ten ticks. Goal to go.
Manning signals spike. Instead,
Edge plows to paydirt.

Hunter the punter
streaks past stunned Jets for touchdown.
Game winning gamble.
