Division Crown in Sight
If Colts hold serve, they walk away AFC
East Champs
written by Rodney Bray and Stephen Conway
The resurgent Indianapolis Colts look for
their 10th straight win and their second AFC Division Crown since moving to Indianapolis
this Sunday as they play host to the Washington Redskins. The Skins are trying to keep the
lead in the NFC East over the threatening Giants and Cowboys. The underdog Redskins have a
legitimate chance to pull the upset in the dome. The Redskins are 3-3 on the road, while
the Colts are 6-1 at home, the only loss resulting from a visit from the Miami Dolphins.
The Colts are playing the best football seen in the franchise since the 70's, yet the
Redskins are the best overall offensive challenge that the Colts will likely face in the
regular season. One "x" factor is the pressure being applied by Skins owner
Daniel Snyder. Will the meddling motivational speeches of the owner result in better play
by the Redskins? The jury is still out.

Game
Prediction
This is a tough game to call. There are
so many variables for both teams. Will the Colts defense step up again and stop the potent
Washington offense? Will the triple threat Colt offense continue to hit on all cylinders?
A strong performance in one phase of the game will not be enough to insure victory. It
will take a complete team effort to bring home a win and the AFC East crown. The team that
plays the best overall 60 minute game should persevere. We feel the Colts have the edge
for the following reasons:
1.) They have "Dome" field advantage
2.) The Colts have made their mistakes and are learning from them
3.) The Colt defense has been improving and are best against the run
4.) The intangibles that Peyton Manning gives this team: poise under pressure, attention
to detail, total focus on the goal at hand, should not be overlooked
