Colts Offense vs. Redskins Defense

Whether through the guile of a perfectly executed play-action pass or Manning's knack for drawing defenses off sides by changing his snap cadence, the Colts offense must force the Redskins into making defensive errors. The Redskins have been whistled for a large number of penalties of late. The Colts must capitalize on these mistakes or breakdowns at every opportunity.

A key element is offensive coordinator Tom Moore's ability to identify and exploit defensive weaknesses. While the Redskins have yet to establish themselves as a defensive force, the Colts must keep the Redskins back on their heels.  A good approach for the Colts might be a ball control running attack with shots down the field on short yardage 2nd and 3rd downs. One possible strategy would be to score as quickly as possible, putting pressure on the Skins to keep pace. If points are not scored quickly, then the Colt offense very well may be playing catchup itself. Key matchup will be the offensive line's ability to block Washington's linebackers. If this is accomplished, then Edgerrin James will have a good day.
